The Mad Frustration You’re Soon to Feel
The Winged Victory of Samothrace in the Louvre is singular. I could stand and feel its power and superb form seemingly for days.
In life I’ve seen it twice, but it’s remained active in my thoughts for decades.
Let me describe the rage I feel on the Louvre website when I encounter this static photograph while i’m full of the entitlement that 3D image technology has ingrained in me. It won’t let me see other sides!
The Louvre’s Nike of Samothrace is a throwback to olden days. With sculpture I expect more than a tripod view.
