Any form of joinery requires glue. In Clastics I’m open to any form of join. Think of a chord in music joining notes. In poetry the rules if haiku and limericks join words in patterns that the poet follows. My 10-pound magnet lets me join iron-containing tchotchkes into fanciful shapes. When I ran across industrial glass glue I collected glass objects from indiscriminate sources — antique malls, drug stores, dollar stores, even mall stores that wanted mall prices. They became sculptures and vases with optical parts to bend submerged green stems.

Simply when you put unlike things together the viewer (reader, listener) takes in the combination. The combination carries a message each piece cannot on its own.
